Dennis Costerisan, DO
I enjoy all aspects of family medicine, from care of newborns to the elderly. For over 30 years I was privileged to offer obstetrical care to my patients. I also enjoy performing minor skin procedures.
When do you first recall wanting a career in medicine?
I grew up overseas in the Philippines and Indonesia as the son of missionaries. In high school, I became interested in the sciences and was inspired by several missionary doctors, whose profession of medicine gave them unique opportunity to serve.
Why did you choose your specialty?
While in medical school, I realized that the best way for me to serve the medical needs of a community was to become a primary care physician, trained to diagnose and treat the whole person. Family medicine allows me to use those skills and apply that perspective. I consider it a privilege to care for my patients and their families throughout the course of their lives.
What do you like to do outside of Crossing Healthcare?
I am blessed to be the husband of my wife of almost 40 years, the father of four married children and currently the grandfather of seven. I enjoy spending time with my family, including biking, running and water skiing in the summer.
