Kathleen J. Miller, MD
Prevention and screening, women’s health, evidence-based medicine
When do you first recall wanting a career in medicine?
When I was a very young child, I wanted to grow up and work with my family doctor. But I didn’t know any female doctors. It wasn’t until I was 31 that I started medical school.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I chose family medicine because I like all aspects of medicine and all ages. I like to develop a relationship with the patient, not just treat a disease state.
What do you like to do outside of Crossing Healthcare?
I am involved with several activities at my church: choir, peace and justice issues, care teams, elder. I also look for excuses to visit or skype with my grandchildren.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy, nor to achieve pleasure nor avoid pain, but to do the will of God, come what may.”
